Laboratory of Biosafety with Pathogens Collection

The Laboratory of Biosafety with Pathogens Collection was formed in 2012. In its activities, the laboratory relied on the experience of specialists who had previously been exposed to especially dangerous viral infections since 1978 in the Belarusian Research Institute for Epidemiology and Microbiology. The objects of research were particularly dangerous viral pathogens belonging to the families of arena- and filoviruses – Lassa, Machupo, Ebola, Marburg, causing hemorrhagic fevers with a high percentage of mortality. These virus models are used in laboratory now.
